My New Job in Greece

So I haven't really known how to just jump into Santorini posts..  We've been here for two weeks now and we're still adjusting, so I thought I would start by explaining to all you why we are here in the first place!

My family owns a small b&b here, called Blue Bay Villas.  Santorini is similar to Ibiza in a way; all of the tourists come during summer months only, so we're only open from late April until early October.  A & I decided to come this summer to learn how to run the place and to help out, since my aunt and grandma run it on their own and are tiiiired.

Me sitting at the bar..  Probably eating all the peanuts
So far our job responsibilities have including carrying suitcases upstairs for guests (A made a 1 euro tip! hehe), trying to understand French (which I'm convinced is an impossible language), welcoming guests and providing island information, folding lots of towels and sheets, waking up for the sunrise to take shots from the balcony, and working the bar.  I never imagined I would be pouring so many glasses of ouzo in my life!  Who knew that people actually like the anise rubbing alcohol?!

The sun rises on our side of the island!  We should wake up for this more often..
It has been such a change from our 9-5 type desk jobs we left in the DR.  Here we don't have "weekends", so I think work/life balance will be our challenge.  I have yet to swim in the ocean!  Crazy me.  My dad flies in tonight for a week so I think we'll be taking a little break from the hotel scene!

What about you?  Do you have a regular Monday to Friday work week?
If you don't, how do you adjust?  Its hard for me to keep track of what day it is!

  1. Gorgeous! I can't wait to go back and see Oia and just hang out. Santorini is a great place to "hang out." What will you do through the winter months?

  3. Yay! I've been waiting to head how Santorini has been treating you so far! I think once you find the rhythm of of it all, you'll be able to have some down time. I say go take a jump into the ocean right as the sun is coming up!
