Detox Cleanse Is Over!

Yesterday was my last day of the 2 week program.  I was gluten, dairy, caffeine, sugar, and alcohol free for two whole weeks, with the exception of last Saturday... It was my friend's birthday, which meant Peruvian black olive sandwiches, and please, would you look at this beauty?!  I mean how couldn't I indulge in a sliver?

A few hours after said birthday meal on Saturday I felt like death.  I suddenly became veeery fatigued and crabby, and ended up taking a 2.5 hour nap!  Even though I had only cut out wheat and sugar for a couple of weeks, I definitely noticed the difference in how the gluten-heavy meal made me feel.

Dulce de Leche filled..
I'm done with the cleanse now and I do feel lighter (although the number on the scale definitely doesn't reflect this "light"-ness!).  I think that as long as you stay away from packaged food, this type of diet helps force you to make healthier decisions.  I also think that cutting out gluten and dairy is great for your skin and hair, however, I am just not ready to commit to a gluten-free/dairy-free lifestyle.
It feels too much like a diet to me.  Good food makes me happy, therefore prohibiting so much goodness is just sad.  Its a punishment!  Life is short, one should live in the moment, so why not enjoy the foods that you love?!  Moderation is key.  Now, where's my slice of pizza?.. ;)

  1. I tried to diet in college after I gained the dreaded Freshman 15 but hated every minute of it. I just try to eat a lot of fresh fruits, veggies and fish. Hopefully that's good enough. :)
